Since it’s founding in January, 1956, the Marshall County Historical Society has relied on the support of individuals. The Historical Society is a nonprofit, non-tax funded organization. It’s mission is to inspire individuals to make the past a meaningful part of their lives. Marshall County Historical Society maintains a historical museum, has educational programs, a resource library, textile preservation, artifact preservation, cemetery records, family genealogies and sponsors. Your donations, through gifts, membership, museum store purchases support the historical society and museum.
The continued growth and development of the Historical Society depends on the active participation of individuals who share an interest in the heritage of Marshall County. We invite you today to join and help give our past a future.
The Marshall County Historical Society is currently 465 members strong and climbing and represents 40 states, 2 countries, and  Washington,DC. The newsletter is emailed or mailed from the East to West Coast, Canada and overseas. The newsletter reaches individuals from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Illinois, Kansas, Nevada, Louisiana, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Oregon, Washington, Canada and Guam.

Membership Categories

The Marshall County Historical Society has several levels of membership available. Annual: $15.00 -Family: $25 (1 Household including minor children) -  Life: $200.00 - Husband & Wife Life $300 - Affiliate (Annual); Bronze $25.00 - Silver $50.00 - Gold $100.00 - Platinum - In-Kind Services Affiliate memberships provide businesses an advertising opportunity in our newsletter by donating to the society at one of three different levels. Participating affiliates are acknowledged in all organization events. For businesses the affiliate membership is tax deductible.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors are dedicated to preserving the history of Marshall County and the management of the affairs of the Society. There are 24 members which constitute the board, one each from the 12 townships when possible and the remaining 12 elected from the memberships at large. All board members serve on various committee’s. The standing committees are: Building and Maintenance; Budget, Finance, Insurance, Trust and Audit; Displays; Website and Internet; Library and Genealogy; Nominating; Membership; Acquisitions and Inventory; Textiles; Newsletter and Publicity and Special Events.


The officers are: Rick Keating , president; ,Ed Glaser vice president; Teresa Thimm, secretary; Bob Weber, treasurer; and John Wabel, managing director.
